Pulse Visitor Registration System

Describes the operational requirements for the VRS product

This article is for IT and security professionals

Technical overview

Pulse Visitor Registration System (VRS) is a web application that runs on IIS using ASP.NET. VRS works with the Pulse Core product, providing an easy way to keep track of visitor and contractor arrivals to site on a daily basis.

Devices

VRS is a web application that is delivered through the browser. Desktop and laptop delivery modes are supported.  Following the deprecation of Internet Explorer by Microsoft, we provide support for VRS when delivered through Microsoft Edge running in Internet Explorer Mode.

Architecture

VRS is designed as a corporate web application, designed for traditional on-premise deployments.

The VRS application is a traditional three-tier application with the application tier running on IIS.  This is hosted on-premise and is recommended to be on a separate server from the Pulse database.

The database VRS uses is the same database that is used  by the Pulse thick-client application.
