When to Use the 'Under Consideration' Work Order Status

A work order should be set to 'Under Consideration' if a work request needs additional information before it can proceed to 'Work In Progress'

This article is for FMI Works users who have been given the permission of Works Coordinator

What the work order status means

Each work order is given a status that changes as the work order moves through the system.

The status of a work order is used to manage how and when work will be actioned, as well as updating requesters on the progress of work.

When to use the 'Under Consideration' status

There are many reasons for requests to be put 'Under Consideration' before proceeding and these will be defined by organisational policy and processes. Some examples of these are:

  • The requested work is complex, and consideration needs to be given to the trade(s) needed to perform the work.
  • The cost of the work may impact on FM operational budgets or needs to be allocated to another organisational cost centre.
  • The timing of work may impact operations.
  • Further information is required to determine whether the work should proceed or not.

Moving a work order to 'Under Consideration'

The 'Under Consideration' status is available for work orders in the status of 'New Request', 'Scheduled', 'Pending Quote', and 'Safety Review'.

After selecting 'Under Consideration', you will be prompted to add the reason for the decision.

An optional feature can be enabled to request approval from a designated Approver before the work order is moved to 'Work in Progress'.

What happens next?

If configured, a work order status change email notification will be sent to notify the relevant parties of the work order’s closure.

For information on configuring email notifications, see our article How To Set Up the Work Order Status Change Email Notifications.
