We're introducing user roles to improve the usability and security of user permissions
This article relates to our FMI Works product
What's changing?
The original user model in FMI was built based on the security groups and activities that could be customized for each user.
While this model provided a high degree of flexibility for individual user access to FMI, it also had limitations, in that activities and groups were complex to understand and configure without assistance. In addition, modern user models are preferred because of the inherent IT security robustness they provide.
User roles
The new user roles are designed to make it easy to identify who needs what permissions in FMI. These roles automatically inherit the user permissions required for each role.
Unlimited users
This group of users are free and unlimited in FMI.
FM Professional Seats
This group of users are those in the FM team, who are responsible for FM operation such as triaging work, managing users, contractors, planned maintenance or assets.
Contractors
This group of users are contractors or suppliers who access the Contractor Portal to manage their work, accreditations or inductions.
Phasing out custom security groups
The legacy custom security group model will be phased out over time. Prior to this cutover, our team will contact you to assist with migration of your data to the new user model.
